You remember that guy who drank himself into oblivion after getting dumped?
Yeah, that guy.
Pulled himself together again well enough to act as cheerleader and emotional cushion of the woman he now loves. And didn’t ask for credit. And didn’t expect anything back.
(It’s been so months since Indigo Spell came out and my feelings are still so strong.)

brief thought on The Borgias 3x05 (The Wolf and the Lamb) (spoilers)
Lucrezia — I loved her side of the story. She tries to push Ferdinand into accepting her child by discussing it publicly, and when it fails, she takes matters into her own hands on the advice of the sort of people Ferdinand cares nothing about. Naples, as we saw in 3x03, is filled with beggars ignored. Lucrezia’s strength has consistently relied on servants and the non-aristocracy, and I love that she continues to take the advice of peasants in the forest to get what she wants, and then Micheletto’s advice to wait for the right opportunity. I love that she can charm people regarded as servants, so that Micheletto is willing to kill for her.
(And MY FEELINGS on Lucrezia-Micheletto interaction are overwhelmingly positive. Their strength comes from such opposing directions, where Lucrezia charms and Micheletto strangles - lol - so it’s fascinating. When the show first started, I guessed that Micheletto might have something to do with Lucrezia’s reputation for poison. I like the show’s version better, where Lucrezia learns on her own, but AM STILL SO FOND.)

Electricity
This is sort of a no-brainer, isn’t it? HOW COULD I LIVE WITHOUT ELECTRICITY AND CELL PHONES AND TEH INTERNET and all other modern technology that relies on this mysterious but wonderful source. I am glad Faraday and Tesla and Edison existed (well maybe less about Tesla since he didn’t share his many and varied inventions with the world). I am so glad the Industrial Revolution happened my luxuries matter more than the pollution and burden of change on poor society, yes long ago enough that I reap the technology that reaped from the benefits of the revolution. Plus I did all right in this part of my finals for Physics so that was nice too.
Earth
B/c life you see. Also, green and pretty.
Elena Gilbert
My f’list pretty much stans for this lady, so I don’t really feel the need to right now. Plus morally dubious princess = yay. Ability to reverse situations so she ends up on top = yay. Social adeptness as a form of survival = yay. Her pretty hair = yay.
Queen Elizabeth I of England
So back in one of my first years of college (that’s high school to you strange people in the US) we had to do a project focusing on the impact of one historical figure. I’d read a couple of mystery novels when I was younger involving Elizabeth, and was suitably impressed by this fictional version of her, so I chose to do my project on her. Not only was the journey of succession the stuff you only read about in novels (or historical textbooks, as may be the case), but every aspect of her tenure fascinated me. Here was Elizabeth, who’d ascended to the throne as only the second female reigning monarch of England in her own right (Mary I being the first), who made plenty of mistakes, stepped on the toes of, well, everyone, who was stingy and proud and vain, but who held England together for forty-something years anyway (the rebellions aside), who was brilliant, picked brilliant advisors, made great speeches, patron of the arts. And managed to reach through time in a stunning show of propaganda that left her reign with a golden glow (Elizabeth: the Golden Age) despite all the poverty that was very much present. She’s just so interesting all around.
Egwene al’Vere
My favourite character from the Wheel of Time series, and one of the big reasons I read it. I love that she’s allowed to be arrogant, blunt, distrustful. I love that (despite the main character of the series being male) Egwene’s love interest is her love interest, not the other way around. I love her attention to detail — which can often get out of hand in a need for control. Egwene has been subservient but rises into independence (almost recklessness). She has a fascinating journey from being a pawn in the web of schemes that is the series’ plotline, to becoming aware of this, to asking for help to turn the tables on people who want to manipulate her: long story short, they put power in her hands, she shocks them by seizing her own agency and becoming one of the big players herself. NOW I JUST NEED TO FINISH READING THE SERIES.

Top 5 female characters (3a, 3b, 3c): Rose, Martha, Donna
Answers to this meme, asking about my top 5s. (the rest of the meme)
Rose Tyler / Martha Jones / Donna Noble (Doctor Who)
I can’t choose. I just can’t. And the problem is, I tend to vacillate between which one of them I like best, and that one would be on the list and the other two wouldn’t. So…
